He's talking about using US tax payer money to fund ILLEGAL immigrant health care.. let me re-phrase - Barak Obama and the Democrats are taking YOUR American TAX Dollars and using them to BENEFIT ILLEGAL immigrants! You need a photo ID to enter a bar to drink a beer, you need a photo ID if you go and buy cigarettes, you need a photo ID for so many things in this country it is NOT a valid excuse to say that obtaining a photo ID with proof of citizenship or status would cause undue hardship and exclude a large demographic of this country. Indeed, we ARE trying to exclude a demographic - ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS from stealing our (hard earned and yet liberally taxed) US tax payer money intended to help and sustain US CITIZENS. Everyone else of voting age, including LEGAL immigrants should have a valid photo ID, it's practically a necessity for everyday life.
This is America right? Well in America we take care of Americans BEFORE we take care of NON-Americans - IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. ESPECIALLY IN TOUGH TIMES! That is not being racist or non-humanitarian, or anti-immigrant - THAT is just a FACT of being a CITIZEN of a country, in our case, the Untied States of America. I wouldn't expect another country to pay for everything I do and subsidize my life if I entered their country illegally and lived there illegally. If I really wanted to live in a country in which I was so desperately trying to get to, I would try and get there the legal way, then try to integrate into society because that is the best way to be prosperous and live a long peaceful life.
I am not anti-immigrant, I am in fact the son of an immigrant who came here legally and orderly. I watched as my mom became a US citizen at a Maryland courthouse when I was 8 years old, and I was incredibly proud of that. For people - mind you these are all kinds of people, some who wish us harm, some who just want jobs, some for a better life - America does not work if the system is FLOODED and UNENFORCED. You need an efficient, orderly process to move people who legitimately want to migrate here to be counted, pay taxes and live a peaceful life, but DO IT LEGALLY, GO THROUGH THE PROCESS, BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T, YOU UNDERMINE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AND SCREW THE VERY PEOPLE YOU ARE TRYING TO BECOME NEIGHBORS WITH. We, US Citizens - tax paying citizens, do not take kindly to being screwed by people who break and flaunt our laws. And we sure as hell DO NOT LIKE Congress giving ILLEGAL Immigrants priority over US Citizens!
All this can be solved with ID Verification. Now I ask you again: Is President Barak Obama, under oath of office of the Presidency while addressing a joint session of Congress ... Lying? How can you justify that President Barak Obama and Democrats in Congress are doing everything in their power to keep American taxpayer money helping AMERICANS, NOT ILLEGAL immigrants? There is no justification for not requiring a valid photo ID to prevent fraud, waste and abuse of our system by people who are here ILLEGALLY!! ARE YOU INSANE!!Senate Finance Committee Democrats rejected a proposed requirement that immigrants prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs.
Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that current law and the healthcare bill under consideration are too lax and leave the door open to illegal immigrants defrauding the government using false or stolen identities to obtain benefits.
Grassley's amendment was beaten back 10-13 on a party-line vote.
The bill, authored by committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), would require applicants to verify their names, places of birth and Social Security numbers. In addition, legal immigrants would have to wait five years, as under current law, after obtaining citizenship or legal residency to access federal healthcare benefits such as Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program or receive tax credits or purchase insurance through the exchange created by the legislation.
But the would not require them to show a photo ID, such as a drivers license. Without that requirement, the bill "remains dearly lacking when it comes to identification," Grassley said. "Frankly, I'm very perplexed as to why anyone would oppose this amendment," he said.
